Friends, I’d like to sing you a song… a song about Christmas pain and misery. A song I know so many of you can relate to…
Yesterday I spent 6.5 hours removing a single strand of tied on lights, straightening thousands of little pokey twiggy branches and relighting a German twig tree. It inspired the following song… written my me.
Sung to the tune of Oh Christmas tree…
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Your branches cause such misery.
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
You poke and stab and make me bleed.
I’m wearing sleeves and rubber gloves,
My arms are scratched into little nubs.
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Your branches cause such misery.
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Such frustration you do bring me.
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Every twig must be just right.
The anger builds in me with light.
For crooked twigs won’t hide at night.
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Such frustration you do bring me.
What do you think? Oh I know anyone who’s ever put one of these German twig trees together and lit it knows that this song is so true. LOL! And it only took me 3 hours of 6.5 to write that. :) I sang it to Mr. Primcat when he got home. He was cracking up.
From this hot mess…
To two rows straightened and lit…
To finished!
Baby Bear took my spot as soon as I got up.
Perched atop the biggest firkin I have ever seen. I bought the firkin at Goodwil for 7.99 ages ago and Rachel at Somewhere in the Middle, so kindly made pretty for me with a redo so I could use it as a Christmas tree stand. My new Christmas nemesis, twiggy tree, sits atop it in the kitchen and ready to be decorated!
I still have so much to do, especially after wasting an entire day straightening that tree! Gahhhhh!
So I better get back to it! Now go back up to the top… and turn on the music and sing with me won’t you…
Oh Twiggy tree, Oh Twiggy tree,
Your branches cause such misery.
Until next time…

Oh but think of the money you saved by salvaging that tree. Then it will seem well worth it.
Carmen what a great laugh! Your tree looks great in your corner with that awsome furkin. I like what you did with the crocks under your new cabinet.
Can you believe Tuesday is here already!!!
I want to go finish my feast shopping this afternoon for the big
day.
Enjoy your afternoon!
Earlene
It looks so so pretty!! I can't wait to do my Christmas decorating... it looks like the kittys are being good...self control lol...I have a major bad back now so my decorating will have to wait...boo! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
That is so hilarious! I can picture you trying to straighten each branch just right! LMAO!
But your tree does look awfully pretty now so it was worth it! :O)
That tree looks beautiful! So frustrating when something that looks so pretty takes forever to get looking that good! Your song was cute!
Oh my Goodness! Too funny! Love your song and after all your hard work, I must say your tree is Beautiful!
OMG! I am cracking up! Can you believe all those hours passed doing that? Well all your pain and misery resulted in one gorgeous, prim tree!
That twiggy tree is so beautiful Carmen! Worth it! (my people won't accept the twiggy's) Leave it up & lit all year woman! ~*~Lisa
O twiggy tree you are so purty !!!! Carmen sings a christmas song and now the stress is almost gone ,O twiggy tree , O twiggy tree how Im dying laughing ! Lol LOVE IT ! A true test of patience but so glad you survived now quit bloggin and get busy and if I dont talk to ya have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING! hugs lilraggedyangie
Too funny - glad you were able to keep your sense of humor. I've truly not seen those German twiggy trees before you showed yours and Angela showed hers. I love the way they look - but I'm thinking not so much maybe anymore. Christmas lights are a sore subject 'round here (yeah I could fill up of week of everyday posts on some of the things that have gone on here...) Suffice it to say that DH HATES doing any kind of lights - and I think he does them worse and worse each year so I'll finally do it myself. Last year I think he literally threw them on - I tried redoing them and it took me 6 hours to get the knots and twisting out....(Do you hire out??) ;o) Anyways - looking fab - and now you can enjoy the fun of decorating it! Have a wonderful holiday...Smiles & Thanksgiving Hugs ~ Robin
Great song! You got love those Christmas lights! Your tree looks very nice!
Love your song! Your tree is just gorgeous!!
Carmen,
LOVE the song, and yes I can totally relate to the scratched arms & hands from doing the same thing. I now keep mine up in the basement family room year round. I change decorations for the seasons. I'm just hoping that the the strand of silicone lights that are on it don't go out anytime soon......
Happy Thanksgiving. ~Ann
Oh my goodness, my daughter and i could not stop laughing. Love the song and the laugh. Dianntha
Your song gave me a laugh. Your tree gave me a smile. It looks good. Had a hard time leaving a comment, but enjoyed your post. Happy Thanksgiving
Thanks for the laugh!Your tree looks great!Hugs,Jen
Loved your song...too funny, but oh so true. My sister has one of those trees too. It looks great in the corner by your cabinet.
Love your firkin/sugar bucket. I jsut had to move my tall stack of them...to get them up from from my little grandson.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
hugs,
Cindy
I loved the song..you are so funny..love the finished tree though..have a wonderful thanksgiving>)
Thanks so much for the chuckle, Carmen! We really do have to keep our sense of humor during all this holiday madness.
I have two German twig trees about 40" tall that I'm putting into the wall niches in my new home this year. Neither one is lit so I'm debating about putting rice lights on them. After reading your song, now I'm not so sure... LOL
Hugs,
Pam
Too funny Carmen. I am so glad you got it up though. Do you think they make Christmas bandaids? the tree looks lovely in the corner there. I love the firkin. Happy Thanksgiving. -Steph-
Love your new song...LOL the same thing happened to me. However my lights went out because of a certain little kitty named Ace who wiggled some wires and made half my tree go out. Sure could have used your song then...Your tree looks purrfect now! Happy Thanksgiving! Take care, Janice
You have done what we NEED TO DO...but won't - for the simple reasons you wrote a song about...LOL
Some strings stopped working a few years ago but instead of taking them off we put more on...and it has happened like that a few years in a row so you can imagine how many strands we are talking about...so it's not getting done.
Your tree looks wonderful and worth the effort and time involved Carmen.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Karen
OMGosh! You funny girl, you sure put blood and guts into this one didn't you... lol. You'd better leave this one up year 'round! Did you get to leave a customer review where you purchased it from?
It does look beautiful. I've always wanted one of those, and it would definitely stay up forever... lol.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving day gal!
Hugs~Carol
Love it! Yes, but no pain, no gain, even in tree decor! LOL! I have to get mine out here by the weekend for sure. Where did you find yours at? I am considering one from ebay, however, I am still undecided.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Renee
Oh heavens Carmen! I think you song could be a hit!
~willa~
Carmen,
It took me forever to get my branches straight. Then I put lights on an messed them up again. But your lights look awesome. Merry, merry!
