How to protect your tree from your cats and more Primitive Blessings
This is a repost of a post I did last year... but I"m bringing it back because clearly my cat loving friends need to hear about this because I'm reading to many stories about
Cat – 1
Human – 0
I sent many years being 0.
No more! I won!!!! Hope this helps you all too!

If you don’t want to end up with this…
You need one of these!!!!
We live with 14 cats… and I’ll be darned for years I could not win with the Christmas tree. The year we adopted the Katrina kittens, 2005, the tree ended up in a box! (Lovely Photo Above.) LOL. It was hysterical and will forever be a fantastically funny Christmas memory… but darn it… I love my Christmas trees and a few years ago I found the solution to keeping the cats out of the tree.
It’s called the Tattle Tale and it’s a little box that you can hang inside your tree like an ornament and it sends out a loud reprimanding tone if they shake the tree. It WORKS! A few times getting screeched at and they don’t touch the tree again!
Here is a link if you need one! Click the picture.

I also got another room posted on Pam’s blog for Primitive Blessings Vintage Gift Shop yesterday.
Here are a few sneak peeks… you can view the rest of the pictures here:

Carmen, I remember reading about that post last year - it's the box I remember! So far, Shadow has knocked over 1 artificial tree twice, unplugged the real tree twice and taken Baby Jesus hostage. My husband keeps defending him saying Frito has been a part of all the mischief too. ~Ann
Too funny. Is that tattle tale thing loud? I can imagine it going off in the middle of the night and giving someone a heart attack :)
My sister put tinsel on her tree a few years back and had to keep pulling it out the back end of her cat. No more tinsel at her house.
Oh Carmen, that picture of the tree made me laugh. You should have wrapped it up in Christmas paper.
Thanks for the giggle,
Sue
So glad you reposted this - Since I wasn't blogging then, I missed that awesome tree in a box....Hmmmm - you didn't set off any new prim decorating trends with that?? ;o) Too funny! But what an ingenious invention. Fortunately, my kittehs leave the tree alone (except for the water in it and the skirt and packages (when there are some) underneath it. But wool - that's another thing - Lizzi is a wool THIEF....I wonder if there's any gizmos out there for that! Happy Wednesday! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
Thanks my Prim Cat Pal ... I know this post is for me and my 12 days of Christmas cat ! i am looking into it ! ;0) Im with Sue though I am shocked you didnt decorate that giant box around the tree !I need to get to Primitive blessings , maybe after Christmas ! but really Fudge is being good he doesnt chew the tree or anything he just likes to sleep in it , maybe because Princess cant get to him in there ! lol have a great day ! hugs lilraggedyangie
Wow!! 14 cats?! I am very lucky my cat just loves to sit under my trees, she has never tried to climb them or play with my ornaments. Thanks or sharing that great gizmo though, I have friends that may be interested in it!
Have a great Christmas!
Thankfully our kitties do not climb the tree or mess with it. Twinkle did remove two little knit stocking ornaments this year (found one in his food bowl). But my daughter put them down too low on the tree, so I couldn't blame him for such a temptation. ;) Normally we do not put any ornaments low enough to be knocked or pulled off.
I have, however, caught our little dog drinking from the tree stand and chewing the lowest branches. Just last night I caught her chewing a pinecone (that hadn't matured yet) that she pulled off a branch.
Now the tree skirt is a whole 'nother ball game! This year we are not putting one on. It never stays put with all these critters around. They run and race under the tree, then the tree skirt ends up in a ball. The tree stand we got last year is nice looking so I'm glad it's not an eyesore that needs a cover. :)
Carmen, that is hysterical! And I thought we had a houseful of cats with seven...I can't imagine having 14. Where do they all sleep??? Our king-sized bed is barely big enough for Hubby, me, and 5 or 6 of the cats, since they play musical chairs in the bed all night long.
As for the Christmas tree, we are very lucky. Our kitties LOVE the Christmas tree but not to play with the ornaments...ours love to curl up underneath the tree on the quilted tree skirt. It's their favorite place ever!
Every January I'm always so sad to put the Christmas tree away because it seems to bring such joy to their lives. I told Hubby the other day that maybe we just need to leave it up year-round for the kittehs. And he gave me THAT LOOK. ha ha
Hugs,
Pam
Carmen,
Your tree in the box was something I've never seen before. LOL... My daughter's cats don't bother the trees at all...guess we are lucky. I do have a little fence around them to keep Miss Chloe from eating the bark off the trunk. What a naughty little yorkie, but oh so cute!!
Great pics of the shop. I will make it over there one of these days.
Hugs,
Cindy
Lovely photos, Carmen.
I can see my cat Biggy jumping straight up into the tree when that things goes off. He always jumps straight up when he's scared, it's hysterical. I don't know how he gets
up in the air so high and straight!
Merry Christmas Everyone
Now, I have heard of everything, didn't know they such a thing. Cats beware!
Never heard od it...great and safe way to keep your cats out. I bet it was very entertaining in the beginning:)
Phatboy was so funny wih those locks!
Have a cozy night.
Earlene
I'd be owning stock in that company with all that I had to buy to keep my cats away from something..lol..have a good one.;)
Too funny ~ I'm so glad I don't have to put my tree in a box!!!
My cat just likes to chew on the branches and then proceed to puke them up!!!
Prim Blessings
