What is it?

I found this piece a few years ago at the Goodwill. I’m pretty sure I only paid $2.00 for it I really like the thing… but I have no idea what it really is. It stands a little over a foot tall.

Is it something specific? Or just a box built with no purpose?

Do you know?

Hmmmm...a roofless birdhouse???? Maybe some type of bag dispenser?? You know the ones where you shove the plastic bags in the top, maybe to pull them out the hole? I really don't know, it is kinda strange, but prim, and neat, let me know if you find out!

If it didn't have the hole in the front - it could double as a prim mail box........I agree with Carmen C. that it looks like a roofless birdhouse......hmmmm

Hi Carmen, carmen again (LOL), stopped back to see if anyone had an answer yet, maybe some lady had her hubby make it for her for some strange purpose and we'll never know! I just noticed some of your pics have your blog name on them, do you mind if I ask how to do that??? I was a little concerned about the bunnies and someone taking their pics, you never know these days! P.S. stop over and enter my giveaway:)

Hmmmmm.... Some interesting theories but nope... not it. It's definetly a mass produced piece, I had always hoped I would fins it's purpose... but I think in honestly, we may never really know.

@ Carmen... I use live writer to watermark my kitteh pics. I've wrestled with wether to watermark or not... and in general I think it's kinda silly (and annoying) but I have found my kittehs pics used in an ad selling an item on a large retail website without permission so in thier case I'm making an exception. I know thier beauty is hard to resist stealing. *wink*wink* I know the bunnies are the same! :o)

I actually saw a really really old one of these when I was thrifting a few weeks ago in the midwest. It's a storage box for potatoes and/or onions. They usually have lids on top and covering the hole but I guess this one doesn't. If you google 'potato storage box' a lot of different styles come up (including some that are similar to the one you have).

Hi Carmen. I'm new to your site and couldn't stop at the new posts and here I am posting to a year-old question! I was going to say a holder for those long matches to light fireplaces, but not sure what the hole in the front would be for. That's my guess. :)
