Merry Christmas!

Hi Friends,

While my phone camera and I are still in a giant argument… I did manage to get a few half decent pics of the living room to share. Sorry some are so out of focus, but it’s the best I can do.

Merry Christmas in the living room.

Apologies and Loca the Pug…

Hi Friends,
First I want to apologize that I haven’t shared our Christmas home this year. It’s not for lack of trying. Something is wonky with my phone and I haven’t been able to take more than a single in focus picture. :(  Very sad.
I’ve asked Santa for a camera. Let’s hope he comes through. :) Until then… enjoy this… because if this doesn't make you smile… you better check your Scrooge o’ meter!
Until next time…

Tuesday Tutorial–Snowballs

Hi Friends,

Taking another look back at a fun winter tutorial today!

Snowballs!

This post is from last year. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to share with everyone how I made my snowballs.
IMAG2553
I did mine a little different than what I have seen out there. Same concept but being the thrifty queen that I am… I used what I had. And what I had… was 125 silk covered plastic ornaments. (If you don’t have ornaments you can buy Styrofoam balls. Try to get them on sale because they aren’t cheap.)
IMAG2531
I decided these would work just fine. So I pulled all the silk off…
IMAG2532
And gave Phat Boy a wonderful head of golden locks. Ha!
IMAG2534
He did not appreciate it as much as I thought he should.
IMAG2535
“I’m a boy. This is ridiculous.”
IMAG2536
Ok… enough messing with the kitties. Back to the snowballs.
Mr. Primcat snipped the plastic nubs off the ornaments with heavy duty wire cutters. The ornaments also had holes in them so I just scotch taped them up.
IMAG2533
And then came the messy part. Joint compound.
Put on some gloves… grab a glob in your hand and start smearing it on.
You get these. Let dry for 24 hours and repeat where needed. Let dry another 24 hours.
IMAG2537
See how pokey they are...
IMAG2538
Snowball fight anyone????? :)
IMAG2539
I have my ammo prepared!
IMAG2542
After drying… The snowballs will be pokey and pointy and you don’t want that. Hubby and I decided to sand them with 80 grit sandpaper to take those nubs off.
And here is the finished result.
IMAG2552
Put them in bowls, jars, and baskets, under shoofly’s, on plates and tucked into shelves. I also found they are really cute sitting in the branches of your Christmas trees. Might theme one with them next year.
Another reason I really liked this project is that this is winter themed and can stay out months into the new year.
Merry Christmas!
Until next time…
Primcats Homespun Candy Cane Tutorial
Hi Friends,
Thought we would take a look back at my homespun candy canes and how to make them. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today I’m going to show you how to make these cute little homespun candy canes.

IMAG1973

You need:

Plastic Candy Canes

Fabric

Hot glue gun

Embellishments: Cheesecloth, Sweet Annie, Bells

So we start with this…

IMAG1712

And some fabric…

IMAG1710

Rip fabric into 1/2 strips then hot glue onto the end.

IMAG1715

Tuck end corners into the first wrap and then just keep wrapping.

IMAG1717

End it the same way you began… with a dab of hot glue.

After many hours… you will have a bunch of wonderful Candy Canes and a worn out cat from stealing all your ripped up strips of fabric.

IMAG1719

Poofie says “Phew, Mom. That was exhausting. Lets nap now.”

IMAG1728

Awwwww… sweet little kitty!

IMAG1731

And wala… candy canes.

IMAG1733

IMAG1734

If you want to dress them up… I did some with sweet annie and cheese cloth, though I am severely allergic to Sweet Annie I know my prim friends love it so all my sweet annie ones are leaving, or have already left here.

Achoo!

IMAG1971

They are so cute though. Wish I wasn’t allergic!

IMAG1973

Wrapped up and ready to sell and gift!

IMAG1975

You can also add bells. Super cute too!

 IMAG2521

IMAG2522

These are great as bowl fillers, jar fillers, ornaments and even gift toppers.

Have fun with it!

Until next time…
