Well, hello 2012!

Hello Friends,

It seems odd that as I sit here and type this… I can’t think of a single subject to talk about. I am not a quiet lady and I almost always have something going on… but as of right now… my plate is empty. I have nothing going on but healing and that requires a whole lotta nothing. I’m bored.

I want to work on the house and move from Christmas into Winter mode but I am not aloud to lift anything so that has been out of the question. I have picked up a few small items here and there and taken them to the dining room table but really… I need to be able to get around properly to do this and I just can’t right now. My follow up appt. is on Wednesday and we will see how that goes. They told me no lifting for at least 2 weeks though… so I’m kinda stuck.

So how am I? I’m ok. In a lot of pain that I wasn’t expecting. They feed you this line that laparoscopy heals faster so it’s better. Um… for anyone who has ever had laparoscopy… you know that’s a line of bs. Instead of having one cut. I have three. And instead of having one area where my organs were touched and moved… my entire abdomen was violated.

They poke three long wands into you. One in the belly button, one in the left abdomen and one in the pubic area. and then they drive those wands through all your parts all the way over to the right side where they want to work on your appendix. I can feel the “lines” they ripped through to get to the right side on every port. OUCH. As is that alone isn’t enough trauma to the gut… they then pump you full of carbon dioxide and blow you up like a balloon… moving ALL your guts, organs, muscles. Super ouch. It’s all very unpleasant. I don’t recommend any of this. lol.

Mr. Primcat has been amazing. I can not say enough good about him right now. He has taken such good care of me through out all this. He deserves an award for best husband ever right now. I’m a lucky woman.

The Primcats are agitated with me. They are mad because they cannot just plop all over mom like they usually do. No more walking all over moms belly and making pushy pushy at their whim. And they are mad they are not getting picked up and loved 24/7. They all weigh well over my current pick up limit so they are all feeling very neglected. I feel bad… but if I want to get well I can’t be picking them up. They will just have to sit down there and meow at my feet until I’m better. I can’t help it.

So I’m starting 2012 out a bit of a funk to say the least. And I’m pretty bummed about that.

I do have an upcoming giveaway planned. So that’s coming up.

I also see I passed 300 followers sometime in the last week. So I would like to do something for that too.

I have surprise packages that didn’t get sent out in time for Christmas and were then again delayed by surgery… so I’ll be doing that hopefully in the next week or two. Depends on when I can lift again.

My birthday is coming up on the 18th (WooHOO THE BIG 35!) and we are thinking about a new couch. Ours is 11 years old and breaking down fast.  I think a couch would be an awesome present.

I am also thinking Birthday giveaway! Woohoo! That would be happening real fast!

I still have presents to share from Christmas.

My Lasik surgery is coming up on the 26th too.

And then who knows what else 2012 will bring!

Lets just start with healing though.

I hope everyone has been having a great new year so far!

Until next time…

Carmen and the Primcats

Good Morning Carmen, so glad you are home and on the mend. Yes that is how they do surgeries these days if they can. and yes it is unpleasant to say the least. Hope you get good news on Wednesday at the follow up, do take it easy!

Hugs to you

Hi Carmen!
Oh girl, I feel for you! I've had that surgery too, It so sucks! I think the worst was the gas they pump into you. I had the worst pain in my chest, just under the collar bone. They told me it was from my body trying to eliminate the excess gas.... Once that past, I healed rather quickly....
Wishing you the best and a quick recovery... If I was closer I'd come help you move things around. I go stir crazy when I'm down and can't do..
If you need an ear, I'm here!
Hugs,
Tisha

Hello Carmen-
Glad to hear you are on the mend. But on the other hand not being able to lift anything and over do it has to be tough.
I had my appendix out when I was 12Back then they made a big incision and stitched you up. So I'm sporting a big long ugly scar from that. And pain, I tell you that was painful. I was off from school for a month. Just didn't seem to heal the way it should have.
I'm hoping your follow up on Wed. brings good news and you heal fast.
My thoughts and Prayers are with you. Take Care.

Hi Carmen, I know it's a pain not being able to do the things you want to right now, but let your body heal.
I had two Lapro surgeries and the worst part was the gas they pump in. Once that dissapates you'll heal fast. I had a hystorectomy 8 yrs ago and had to have it the old way cutting from hip to hip and I wish I could have had the lapro way cause it was 6 months before my stomach mucles stopped hurting.
Good luck Wednesday~ I'm sure it won't be long before your back to feeling like yourself.
Blessings,
Jean

Remember Carmen that "this too shall pass." I know how antsy you are to "do something" as I was the same way last year after my hysterectomy. The healing seems to take forever but honestly, you will be back on your feet doing anything you want to do before you know it : ) I am continuing to pray for your speedy recovery : ) Blessings, Shirlee

It is so nice to have you back Carmen. The rest of the year can only get better. Catch up on some movies, reading maybe a little sewing (by hand). Take advantage of the rest. Two years ago I had umbilical hernia surgery and was like you could not lift anything for 6 weeks. It gets better. At least it happened now and not in the beautiful summer. Hope you are back to perfect soon.

Have a nice day,
Sue

Hi Carmen,
Oh sweetheart, my heart breaks for you. Yes, I know it is hard to sit and rest when there is so much you want to do.
But don't give in to the urge. Relax and heal, that is most important.
All those projects will be waiting for you when you can safely do them.
Try not to let it get ya down. I know, easier said than done at times. But this too shall pass and soon you will be back to being you and having fun.

Take Care of you!
Hugs and wishing you and yours a blessed New Year.

Carmen, So glad you are home, even though you are bored! Do you like to read? I would highly recommend "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. The movie is coming out in March - hopefully it is as good as the book. How about "Downton Abbey" on PBS. Right now you can watch season 1 for free at www.pbs.org. Season 2 begins on Sunday night. It's a good show - I've even got my husband hooked, England in the early 1900's. ~Ann

You made me think of my surgery for kidney stones. I was told how easy it would be. Well it didn't turn out that way. The pain for weeks after to. Prayers for your speedy recovery. Blessings!

Glad you're home and healing. I agree with you regarding the surgery you had! Both my children had their appendixes removed and they were in horrible pain. Michael had to go back into the hospital after he was home for a few days because of the tremendous buildup of gas after the surgery! He was in for another 2 days and in so much pain. I feel for you!!! Please be careful with what you do!!!

So happy that you are home and safe, Carmen. Please be sure not to lift especially beyond the recommended cuz you can get a hernia, and you don't want that, trust me. My older cat still remembers when I had abdominal surgery from 2006 and he climbs on me in stages and won't go on the belly until I tell him to keep climbing, he likes to lay on my chest. They are so smart. And they sure do miss their love time from us when we can't give it to them.
Your kitties will get extra love when you are better I'm sure.
Everyone it seems wants to move things around their home and re-arrange. It's contagious!

Carmen I'm glad you're home and recovering, with or without the primcat's help. Sorry you've had such a rough year end. I've had abdominal surgery and remember that gas pain. You wouldn't think it would hurt so much! The only good thing I can think of to say is that at least we only have one appendix! Get good rest and feel better soon! ~Roberta

Your birthday is the day after my oldest daughter's and you're only
4 years older than Kim is. It will be easy for me to remember your birthday.
Take care.

Just checking in on my cwazy cat lady....glad to hear you're home - so much better than those stinky ol' hospitals. Sorry you're still in such pain and hope you heal quickly. Wow...and then just a few weeks and you get to have more surgery. Lucky you.... ;o) Try to find some comfort in being able to be pampered and lazy...a good book, some good movies, some hand stitching....sounds pretty good to me right about now. Hope you're back up and spunky soon....Hugs & Smiles ~ Robin

Oh Carmen, any surgery sucks if you ask me..glad you are at home and on the mend...I know it must be so hard not being able to give your kittys the attention they are use to...if they are like my kittys. Just do what the doc says and you will be back to your good ole self in know time. Happy early birthday too! Take care, Janice
