The doors are done!

The doors are done, the crown molding too and that makes the dining room remodel COMPLETE! What a great feeling! Mr. Primcat and I are very proud of our handy work!

Now, I have to ask you all a favor. I appreciate everyone talking about how nice it must be to have a handy husband… but give a girl some credit, will ya? ;o)

The doors are my design completely and I built them too! I can wield a drill and saw with the rest of the handy husbands. I partook in cutting the wood, screwing them together, leveling them up, “trying” to square them up lol, cutting wire and painting them too!!! Ya gotta be giving some credit where it’s due friends. Don’t get me wrong… my husband is VERY VERY handy and I am very appreciative of that… but it’s not just on his own… I’m right there leading the way on home improvement projects! :)

We had a correct guess on how we finished them! Lara at a primitive homestead guessed chicken wire! She was correct! Regular chicken wire painted black with a roller as not to block the view of the new dining room.

And they are up!

Chennifer thinking this is not going to work out well for her! Enjoy your last few minutes in the dining room Chen… for your reign over that room shall end soon!!!! Mauahahahaha!!!! (my evil laugh. lol.)

Chennifer and Poofie discussing…

…and realizing Mom WINS!!!!!!!!

So there they are! The wonderful new French dining room doors! I love them. Hubby loves them. Everyone who has seen them thinks they are adorable! Except the kittehs… who are not impressed that I finally beat them and I now have a cat free dining room! ! LOL!

For the record… 5 seconds after I put that second set of doors up… I set the table!!!! And Saturday I stopped at The Olde Farmstead and ordered a beautiful Sturbridge table cloth in Navy. Do you know how long its been since I’ve been able to use a table cloth in the dining room? So so long. In the past a table cloth meant not just one  dish crashing to the floor when a cat jumped on it but instead an entire table full of dishes crashing to the floor! Not any more!!!! My dishes are safe!

So there you have it… the completed doors. I hope you like them as much as we do!

Stay tuned for Christmas in the kitchen and the dining room!

Until next time…

You did a great job on them, now you got my old wheels turnin', lol, I would love a way to keep my German shepherd out of the kitchen when I cook, I practically trip over her!!! Oh, I do think they are perfect! Ours are solid glass and our dogs make nose prints from 12" down. It doesn't help that their water bowl is right in that area, either.
I had wanted to cut out the centers of our old cabinets and use chicken wire but Hubby talked me into glass fronts on new cabinets. I still like the idea.
Yours are gorgeous. I love them. And I envy you for the skills you have!

You have inspired me Carmen. Your doors are fabulous and they look perfect. I love how they flow with your chair rail. I bet your furry little friends are darn mad at you. They will get over it I'm sure. Well girl now that we all know how handy you are, do you hire out? I have a few projects that you would be great at!
Enjoy your doors.
Hugs, AMY

Great Job - We all knew it was really YOU behind the design/making of the doors, but we gotta let the men think it is really them! LOL

Wonderful job,Mrs.Primcat! You go Girl, Ms.handy girl(I just love it)
Kinda like me when people talk about my farm, they always think my hubby does all the work and it was his family farm( nope, mine, & he did not even grow up on a farm, I just giggle, and think yep all these wrinkles & scars from working the farm all earned!)
I simply love the doors, chicken wire is just adorable!
But Carmen the POOR KITTY'S, I can hear them meowing!LOL
So enjoyed the working process, turned out great!
Enjoy the day,
Teresa

I love the doors! Wire painted black so perfect! Primperfect to show off your beautiful dining room. As a gal who has her own power tools I am right there with you. Go girl! Most people visiting the homestead think my hubby has done all the window trim * Barn door designs * bead board & wood chair rail. TEEHEE it was me. Enjoy your kitty free room. I gotta see the new table cloth. Blessings!

That is so clever! I have to laugh at your kitties antics in the dining room. Our kitties are not as bad... but it would be nice if their behinds didn't sit and/or lay on the table at their leisure.

They look great! We are getting ready to do a remodel on our kitchen after the first of the year and I have been thinking about replacing a couple of my solid door cabinets with the chicken wire. I love how it looks!

Carmen, I LVOE the doors! They are perfect!!! I love chicken wire! I want to do my kitchen cabinets that way, just waiting for some time and warm weather so I can take them down and cut some holes in them! You and hubby did a great job! Kudos!!!
